Arthur Racine Boxall

Arthur Racine Boxall joined the war effort at 19 years old, shortly before Christmas in 1914. After being declared as medically fit for service, he joined the London Regiment and left England on March 18^th for service overseas in France and Flanders. Arthur was part of 24^th Battalion and saw action on the Western Front on May 25^th as part of the Battle of Festubert. The 24^th were successful in making some gains during this battle but this came at a high cost and the battalion suffered a significant amount of casualties. Boxall survived the battle only to shot dead by a sniper the next morning when on sentry duty. He is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial in France.
