Eric L. Bristow

Lance Corporal, London Divisional Cyclist Company

Eric L. Bristow joined the war effort as part of the 2^nd London Divisional Cyclist Company, a formation of the British Territorial Force. He served on the Western Front as a cyclist to 47^th Division. As part of a cyclist company, Eric was responsible for patrols and missions that required mounted work in the field. However, with the Western Front reduced to static trench warfare by the end of 1914, members of the divisional cyclist companies often found themselves assuming the same role as the infantry in the frontline. In 1916, Eric was serving in France with the company when he was killed at Arras on March 20^th. He is buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery in Souchez.
