Ronald John Seymour Carter
Lance Corporal, Cambridgeshire Regiment
Ronald John Seymour Carter lived in Lewisham and studied at Alleyn's until 1911. During the war, he served with the Cambridgeshire Regiment which was part of the British Territorial Force. Ronald served as a Lance Corporal and saw action overseas in France and Flanders. He was serving on the Western Front when the German Army launched their Spring Offensive in April 1918. During this time, the British struggled to hold off the attacking German forces and Ronald was wounded while defending his position in the line. He later died of his injuries on May 28th 1918 and is buried at Bagneux British Cemetery in France.
