Harry Leonard Cruse

Driver, Honourable Artillery Company

Harry Leonard Cruse studied at Alleyn's until 1912 and lived at 114 Fawnbrake Avenue. He joined the war effort as part of the Honourable Artillery Company and served as a Driver overseas on the Eastern Front. During his time overseas, he was involved in the major British operations in Egypt which aimed to defend the Suez Canal, an important British supply route, from any attack by German forces. Harry served in the area until contracting Malaria in 1918. After his conditioned worsened, he passed away on 27^th October 1918. He is commemorated on the Damascus Memorial.
