Leonard Stanley Cullingford

Leonard Stanley Cullingford was a student at Alleyn’s until 1903. He joined the war effort as part of the Prince of Wale’s Own Civil Service Rifles, London Regiment and served overseas in France and Flanders as a Corporal. In 1916, Leonard took part in the major British offensive on the Somme and was involved in the fierce fighting that took place at High Wood in September. During this action, he was killed in battle on 15th September 1916. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
