Reginald Charles Spurgeon Davies

2nd Lieutenant, London Regiment

Reginald Charles Spurgeon Davies attended Alleyn's until 1907 and joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant after being granted a commission and saw action on the Western Front in France and Flanders. In March 1918, he was serving at the front near St. Quentin when the German Army launched their formidable Spring Offensive - a series of attacks across the Western Front that would last until July 1918. During the first day of this attack, Reginald was killed in action as the London Regiment, and many other regiments of the British Army, struggled to hold off the attacking German forces. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
