Reginald Stanley Dixon

Reginald Stanley Dixon was a student at Alleyn’s until 1912 and lived at 186 Buckingham Palace Road, London. He was a foundation scholar at Dulwich College before he decided to enlist in the British Expeditionary Force shortly after the outbreak of war in August 1914. After being found fit for service, Reginald joined the London Regiment as part of the Royal Fusiliers and was sent for service overseas on the Western Front. He served in France and Flanders as a Private and took part in preparations at Theipval for the last attack of the 1916. It was hoped that these minor operations would aid the main British offensive in the area and help to gain ground of strategic value for 1917. Unfortunately, it was during these preliminary operations that Reginald was killed in action on September 14^th 1916. He is buried at Bronfay Farm, Military Cemetery, Bray-sur-Somme.
