In October 1918, he became ill and was transferred from the front to hospital to recover. He later died of fever at the General Hospital, Salonica, at the age of 43. He was one of the two oldest Alleyn’s Old Boys killed in the war and he is buried at Mikra Cemetery, Kalamria.
