Augustus S. Dyson
Rifleman, London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles)
August S. Dyson attended Alleyn’s until 1902 and lived at 46 Lambert Road, Brixton Hill with his parents and four brothers. He joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles) and served overseas on the Western Front in France. In July 1916, he took part in the major British operation on the Somme with the London Regiment. Unfortunately, Augustus was killed on the first day of the offensive on July 1st. He is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial.
