Frank W. Eagle

Frank W. Eagle lived at 21 Kellet Road, Brixton and attended Alleyn’s until 1911. After the outbreak of the war in August 1914, he quickly obtained a commission in the Royal Engineers and after completing his training was sent for service on the Western Front. During his time overseas, Frank served in France and received a temporary promotion to acting Captain in 1916 after having proved himself to as a reliable and dedicated leader in battle. He continued to serve in France until he was killed in action on June 6^th 1916, a month before the launch of the Somme Offensive. He was considered by his Commanding Officer, Brigadier-General Stratford, as a ‘most able and brave officer’.
