Herbert H Farthing

Cadet, Royal Military Academy Woolwich

Herbert was the son of F.H.Farthing, a Journalist, who was born on 1st August 1899. He lived in Burbage Road in Herne Hill and later at Knight's Hill in West Norwood. 

He entered Alleyn's in September 1910 and left in the summer of 1916, having passed his Matriculation with a distinction in French in 1915. He left Alleyn's to attend the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich. 

While at Alleyn's he was a champion swimmer and his medals (shown right) are preserved in the School Archive.
