Harold G. Fenn

Lance Corporal, London Regiment (First Surrey Rifles)

Harold G. Fenn lived with his parents and his brother, Edward, at 33 Babington Road, Streatham and joined the war effort early on as part of the London Regiment (1st Surrey Rifles). During his time with the London Regiment, Harold served as a Lance Corporal in France and was involved in the Battle of Festubert in May-June 1915. This series of attacks, launched by the British and the French, was intended to gain more ground and inflict a significant number of casualties on the German forces. It was during these attacks that Harold was wounded on May 25th 1915. He was transferred from the front to Versailles Hospital to recover but later died from his injuries on June 6th 1915, at the age of 23. He is buried at Les Gonards Cemetery, Versailles.
