Charles William Gates

Rifleman, London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade)

Charles William Gates was a student at Alleyn’s and lived at 273 Friern Road, East Dulwich before joining the war effort. After being attested, he joined the London Regiment as part of the London Rifle Brigade and served overseas on the Western Front as a Rifleman. In December 1915, he was serving with the LRB in Flanders when he was killed in action on December 2^nd. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.
