Kenneth L. Gopsill
Captain, East Surrey Regiment/Royal Flying Corps
Kenneth L. Gopsill was a student at Alleyn’s until 1913 and lived at 51 Dingwall Road, Croydon before joining the war effort. After being attested, he joined the East Surrey Regiment but was later transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. During his time with the RFC, Kenneth served overseas as a Captain and was known by many for the ‘brilliant service’ he gave at the front. Unfortunately, this service was cut short when he was killed in a flying accident on February 15th 1918. Kenneth is buried at Merville Cemetery.
