Albert N. Harris

2^nd Lieutenant, Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment

Albert N. Harris was a student at Alleyn’s until 1911 and joined the war effort at the age of 18 after obtaining a commission. After receiving training at the University of London OTC, Albert joined the Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment as a 2^nd Lieutenant, serving with 8^th Battalion. In 1915, he was serving in France during the Battle of Loos, the biggest British attack of the year. It was during this action that Albert was killed on September 26^th 1915, two days into the battle. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
