Albert N. Harris
2nd Lieutenant, Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment
Albert N. Harris was a student at Alleyn’s until 1911 and joined the war effort at the age of 18 after obtaining a commission. After receiving training at the University of London OTC, Albert joined the Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant, serving with 8th Battalion. In 1915, he was serving in France during the Battle of Loos, the biggest British attack of the year. It was during this action that Albert was killed on September 26th 1915, two days into the battle. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
