Henry Ronald Hicks
2nd Lieutenant, Royal Flying Corps
Henry Ronald Hicks was born in Woolwich, London and was a student at Alleyn’s until 1915. After leaving school, he joined the war effort as part of the Royal Flying Corps and served as a 2nd Lieutenant on the Western Front. In October 1917, he was serving in Flanders during the Third Battle of Ypres and was responsible for providing essential aerial support during the third phase of the operation. Unfortunately, it was during this time that he was either killed, or went missing, in action on October 12th 1917. He is buried at Dadiezeele New British Cemetery.
