Thomas Jeffries
2nd Lieutenant, London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers)
Thomas Jeffries was a student at Alleyn’s until 1898 and joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers). During his time with the Fusiliers, he served on the Western Front as a 2nd Lieutenant and saw action in France and Flanders. In 1917, he took part in the Third Battle of Ypres and was involved in the first phase of the offensive as the Allies attacked at Pilckem Ridge, Hill 70 and Langemarck. It was during this time that Thomas was killed in action on August 14th 1917. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
