Sidney H. Langford
Transport Driver, London Regiment
Sidney H. Langford was a student at Alleyn’s until 1912 and joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment. He served as a Transport Driver on the Western Front and saw action in France in 1918. In October 1918, he was involved in the Hundred Days Offensive and assisted in numerous actions that would eventually lead to Allied victory. Transport Drivers played a pivotal role at the front during this time by ensuring that attacking troops had the required supplies and ammunition behind them as they advanced. Unfortunately, it was during these operations that Sidney was killed in action on October 16th 1918. He is buried at La Kreule Military Cemetery.
