James Love Lightfoot
Private, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment
James Love Lightfoot was a pupil at Alleyn’s until 1907 and lived at 55 Kingsdown Avenue, Ealing before the outbreak of the First World War. He joined the war effort as part of the Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment, serving as a Private. After the end of the war, James remained with the Regiment after deciding to continue his wartime service. Unfortunately, it was during this time that he was died on November 27th 1919. James is buried at South Ealing Cemetery.
A note in the Edward Alleyn Magazine for February 1922 (No 151, Vol 26) states that School was only informed of the death of James after the war memorial had been installed. James' name therefore could not be included on it.
