M. Lymbery
Captain, Royal Field Artillery
M. Lymberry was a student at Alleyn's until 1909, along with his brother, Frank Lymbery. He joined the war effort as part of the Royal Field Artillery and served as a Captain on the Western Front. In 1917, he was serving with the RFA at the front when he became wounded in battle after an encounter with one of the deadly German flame-thrower units. Fortunately, he was able to recover from his injuries and after a short spell of rest at home he was well enough to continue his service in 1918. It was during this time that he received the Military Medal for his gallantry and devotion to duty in battle. Just a few months after receiving his medal, he also earned the Military Cross and was promoted to the rank of Major.
