Frederick W. Marshall

2nd Lieutenant, Essex Regiment 

Frederick W. Marshall lived at New Park Road, Brixton and was a student at Alleyn's until 1903. He joined the war effort as part of the East Surrey Regiment and later transferred to the Essex Regiment when he was awarded a commission. After the completion of his officer training, Frederick was awarded the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was sent overseas with his new regiment to the Western Front. In April 1916, his actions in the field earned him the Military Cross after he obtained a large amount of valuable information during a dangerous operation.
