Frank Harry Martin

Lieutenant, Coldstream Guards

Frank Harry Martin lived at Oak Hall, Haywards Heath and was a student at Alleyn’s until 1912 when he left to join Charterhouse School. After the outbreak of war in August 1914, he was granted a commission and joined the Coldstream Guards as a Lieutenant. During his time with the Guards, Frank served on the Western Front and was awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry in active operations against the enemy. In 1918, he was serving at Boisy, St. Martin during the German Spring Offensive when he was killed in action on March 28th. He is buried at Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux.

He is also commemorated on his family tombstone in West Norwood Cemetery London.
