Wireless Operator, Mercantile Marine

Thomas Glenmore Kennion Lord Minty lived at 311a Milkwood Road, Herne Hill and was a student at Alleyn’s until 1916. After leaving school, he joined the war effort as part of the Mercantile Marine and served as a Wireless Operator on the SS ‘Mirto’. On August 16th 1918, Thomas was serving on the ship when it was torpedoed by German forces.
