Robert Spottiswoode Scott Mitchell

Lieutenant, Royal Field Artillery

Robert Spottiswoode Scott Mitchell was a student at Alleyn's until 1912 and joined the war effort as part of the Royal Field Artillery. During his time with the RFA, Robert served as a Lieutenant and was awarded the Military Cross after leading his battalion on his own for a fortnight, despite having only 15 months of service. The battery was constantly shelled during this time, but it was still able to carry out good work as a result of the leadership and energy provided by Robert.
