Cecil George Nice

Lieutenant, the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment)

Cecil George Nice was the son of George Henry Nice and Charlotte Mary Nice. He was a student at Alleyn’s until 1910 and lived at 8 Lanercost Road, Tulse Hill. He originally joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment but was transferred to the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment) after being gazetted. During his time with the Queen’s, Cecil served as a Lieutenant on the Eastern Front and saw action as part of the Mesopotamia Campaign against the Ottoman Empire. In 1919, he was wounded in battle and returned to England to recover from his injuries. Unfortunately, he later contracted an illness due to his poor health which he later died from on February 9^th 1920. He is buried at West Norwood Cemetery.
