Charles Stewart Nightingale
Lance Corporal, London Regiment (London Scottish)
Charles Stewart Nightingale was a student at Alleyn’s until 1912 and lived with his parents, Herbert and Florence, and his three brothers, Roland, Eric and Henry, at 26 Rollscourt Avenue, Herne Hill. He joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment (London Scottish) and served as a Lance Corporal overseas on the Western Front. In 1917, he was serving in France when he was killed in action on November 30th 1917. He is buried at Cambrai, Louveral.
