J. A. Nye 

Captain, Northampton Regiment

J. A. Nye was a student at Alleyn's until 1910 and joined the war effort early on as part of Northampton Regiment after being granted a comission. After completnig his officer training, Nye was granted the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was sent overseas to serve with his regiment. After being at the front for only a short while, Nye was unfortunately wounded in action as the British launched an attack on the German lines. Nye described his experience of crawling back through No Man's Land with another comrade in detail in the June 1915 edition of the Edward Alleyn Magazine which can be read by clicking here. Nye was able to make a swift recovery from his injuries and returned to the front shortly afterwards. By the end of the war, he was serving with the rank of Captain.
