J. Leslie Oliver
Sergeant, London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles)
J. Leslie Oliver joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles) and served as a Sergeant overseas on the Western Front. In 1916, he was attached to the Queen’s Westminster Machine Gun Company and was serving in France during the British offensive on the Somme. It was during this time that he was killed in action on September 10th.
Oliver is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial and on his grandmother's headstone in West Norwood Cemetery.
