Edgar Alfred Pace
Private, Norfolk Regiment
Edgar Alfred Pace lived at 66 Milton Road, Herne Hill and was a student at Alleyn’s until 1916. After leaving school, he joined the war effort as part of the Norfolk Regiment and served overseas on the Western Front. In 1918, Edgar was serving in France during the German Spring Offensive. This large scale attack was launched by the German Army across the Western Front and was their last attempt to secure victory in the war. Unfortunately, it was during this operation that Edgar was killed in action at Kemmel Hill on April 15th 1918. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
