Hubert T. Claude Park was a student at Alleyn’s until 1903. After leaving school, he married Lilian Nellie Park and moved to 246 Friern Road, East Dulwich. After outbreak of the First World War in August 1914, he decided to enlist in the war effort and joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers after being found fit for service. During his time with the Fusiliers, Hubert served overseas on the Western Front as a Lance Corporal and saw action in France and Flanders. In October 1917, he was wounded in action during the Third Battle of Ypres and was transferred back home to England to recover. Unfortunately, he later died from the severity of his injuries at Netley Hospital on November 18th 1917. He is buried at Nunhead (All Saints) Cemetery.
