Aldred John Perrin
2nd Lieutenant, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry
Alfred John Perrin was a student at Alleyn’s until 1901 and joined the war effort after being granted a commission. Following the completion of his officer training, he was attached to the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry as a 2nd Lieutenant and was sent for service overseas on the Western Front. In 1917, he took part in the third phase of the Third Battle of Ypres as the British forces pushed towards Passchendaele. It was during this operation that he was killed in action on October 4th 1917 whilst leading his platoon in battle. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
