Herbert Stanley Plant

Lieutenant, Royal Engineers

Herbert Stanley Plant was a student at Alleyn’s until 1899 and joined the British Army shortly after leaving school. He served during the South African War and decided to continue his service when the First World War broke out in August 1914. Herbert served as a Lieutenant with the Royal Engineers and saw action in France before becoming ill with pneumonia in 1918. He later died on service on February 18th 1918. He is buried at Bucqoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux.
