William. H. Reynolds

Lieutenant, Lancashire Fusiliers 

Aged 15, class VI.A technical: “Decidedly good powers especially in maths”

William. H. Reynolds was born in April 1891, he was a pupil at Alleyn's from 1904 until 1908 and he won the Dr Carver prize for German in 1906. He was an intelligent and highly performing pupil, particularly in languages, maths and science, and upon leaving Alleyn’s he attended Imperial College London.

He joined the war effort as part of the Lancashire Fusiliers, serving as a Lieutenant on the Western Front. In 1917, he was Mentioned in Despatches for his leadership during active operations and was also awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry. By the end of the year, Reynolds' consistent leadership and skill in the field had earned him another bar to his MC.
