Horace N. Smith
Private, London Regiment (London Scottish)
Horace N. Smith joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment (London Scottish). He served overseas on the Western Front as a Private and saw action in France during the major British operation on the Somme in the summer of 1916. In August, he was serving at the front during the second phase of this operation when he was killed in action on August 10th 1916, just after the end of the Battle of Pozieres. His parents, Henry and Flora, were informed of his death shortly afterwards. Horace is buried at Maroeuil British Cemetery.
