J. Stephenson 

Captain, Royal Army Medical Corps [Field Ambulance]

J. Stephenson was a student at Alleyn's until 1909 and joined the war effort as part of the Royal Army Medical Corps, serving as a Lieutenant with the Field Ambulance section. During his time with the RAMC, Stephenson played a crucial role in a number of operations, providing medical assistance and support those wounded in battle. Stephenson's bravery in the heat of battle was recognised a number of times throughout the war and saw him awarded the Military Cross, and a bar to this later, in addition to being Mentioned in Despatches.
