Hubert Sutton

Lance Corporal, Surrey Yeomanry (Queen Mary’s Regiment)

Herbert Sutton lived at 2 Fernwood Avenue, Streatham and joined the war effort as part of the Surrey Yeomanry (Queen Mary’s Regiment). During his time with the regiment, he served overseas on the Eastern Front as a Lance Corporal and saw action as part of the Gallipoli Campaign, an operation launched by the Allies in the hope of securing an important sea route to the Russian Empire. Unfortunately, it was during this campaign that Hubert died on active service on August 21^st 1915. He is buried at Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
