Albert R. Tucker

2nd Lieutenant, Royal Field Artillery

Albert R. Tucker was a student at Alleyn's until 1913 and joined the war effort after being granted a commission in the Royal Field Artillery. After completing his officer training, he received the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was sent for service overseas on the Western Front with his new regiment. During his time overseas, Albert saw action in France and was serving at the front during the time of the Battle of Arras. Unfortunately, on May 17th 1917, just a day after the close of the Arras operation, Albert was killed in action. After his passing, his Colonel noted that the RFA had lost a 'magnificent officer, capable to a degree, fearless in danger, and ever ready to fact the most heavy shelling and rifle fire in order to gain information of help to the artillery'. Albert is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun.
