John Robinson Tyson
Lance Corporal, the Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment)
John Robinson Tyson lived at 135 Turney Road, Dulwich and was a student at Alleyn's until 1911. He joined the war effort as part of the Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) and served overseas on the Eastern Front as a Lance Corporal. During his time with the Queen's, John was involved in a number of British operations and took part in the Gallipoli Campaign and the Sinai and Palestine Campaign. In 1915, he was wounded in action after taking part in an offensive at Suvla Bay but was later able to rejoin his regiment for service in Egypt after recovering. John continued to serve with the Queen's until being killed in action on August 18th 1917. He is buried at Alexandria (Hadra) Cemetery.
