F. C. West

Captain, Royal Engineers

F. C. West was a student at Alleyn's until 1914 and joined the war effort as part of the Royal Engineers. He came 14th in the Woolwich Entrance Examinations and completed his officer training at the University of London, OTC. After successfully completing his training, West gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and joined the Royal Engineers overseas. By the end of the war, West had earned the Military Cross for his bravery in action and had been promoted to the rank of Captain.
