Lance Corporal, London Regiment

Harold White was a student at Alleyn’s until 1908 and lived with his parents, Richard and Elizabeth, at 181 Dunstan’s Road, Dulwich. He joined the war effort as part of the London Regiment and saw service overseas on the Western and Eastern Front as a Lance Corporal. After seeing action in France as part of the regiment’s Lewis Gun Section, he was transferred to the Eastern Front where he joined the British forces taking part in the Sinai and Palestine Campaign. In November 1917, he was involved in heavy fighting against the Ottoman forces when he was wounded in action on November 9th 1917. He later died from the injuries he received on November 9th 1917 and is buried at Beersheba War Cemetery.
