Acting Sergeant, 25^th (County of London) Cyclist Battalion

Reginald James White was a student at Alleyn’s until 1906 and lived with his parents, Charles and Frances, at 258 Friern Road, East Dulwich. After leaving school, he found work as a clerk before deciding to enlist in the war effort as part of the Territorial Force. Reginald already had some military experience behind him before he enlisted in the TF after spending a year serving with the 1^st Cadet King’s Royal Riles and three months with the 5^th Dragoon Guards. This experience allowed Reginald to quickly climb the ranks after joining the 25^th (County of London) Cyclist Battalion. He was promoted to Corporal in June 1916 and less than a year later was recommended for a temporary position as Sergeant. Reginald served at home for the duration of the war allowing him to marry his wife, Isabella, in March 1918. By the end of the war, he had served with the TF for a total of 4 years and 10 days.
