Leslie Roberts Wilshaw

Corporal, Army Service Corps

Leslie Roberts Wilshaw lived at 18 Arkwright St, Burnley and joined the war effort in June 1915 as part of the Army Service Corps. His brother, Eric James Wilshaw, was already serving with the Royal Field Artillery as a 2nd Lieutenant at this time. Leslie served overseas on the Western Front as a Corporal and saw action in France and Flanders during his time with the Corps. In 1917, he was serving in Northern France when he was killed in action at Steenvoorde on 3rd September. He is buried at Cabaret-Rouge, Souchez.
