Nathaniel Winslow
Sergeant Major, 78th Winnipeg Grenadiers
Nathaniel Winslow was a student at Alleyn’s until 1896 and moved to Canada shortly after leaving school. After being found fit for service, he joined the 78th Winnipeg Grenadiers and was sent for service overseas on the Western Front. His brother, Benjamin, was also serving on the Western Front at this time as part of the London Regiment (City of London Rifles). In 1917, Nathaniel was serving in Northern France during the time of the Battle of Arras when he was wounded in action at Boulogne. He later died from his injuries on April 17th 1917. He is buried at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
