Alan Hawkesworth Wright

Rifleman, London Regiment (First Surrey Rifles)

Alan Hawkesworth Wright was a student at Alleyn’s until 1916 and lived at 1 Brannagh Road, Brixton. He joined the war effort shortly after leaving school as part of the London Regiment (First Surrey Rifles) and served overseas on the Western Front as a Rifleman. In 1918, he was serving in France during the Allied Hundred Days Offensive when he was killed in action on 13^th August, at the age of 18. He is buried at Bonnay Communal Cemetery.
